Call for Projects OPEN NOW!

The Month of Photography, an initiative aimed at boosting the medium of photography and backed by the City of Vienna, is to be re-launched by KUNST HAUS WIEN as a photography festival entitled Foto Wien [Vienna Photo] in March 2019.

The new Foto Wien photography festival features a curated programme with clearly defined guidelines. Foto Wien stands for artistic quality, diversity and innovation, incentivising both domestic audiences and art professionals from abroad. Over a period of four weeks the new photography festival is to showcase contemporary trends in photography and discuss trendsetting positions in the history of photography through outstanding exhibitions and supporting events.
supporting events. In co-operation with a multitude of key players in photography in the city, the festival is to explore contemporary international and national positions in art photography. The festival itself is to kick off with an Opening Days event, focusing on portfolio reviews, symposia, workshops, talks, debates, and performances. Exhibition projects and initiatives in the public space are designed to make contemporary photography accessible to a wider audience.

KUNST HAUS WIEN is to present the entire festival programme and the festival run at a press conference in autumn 2018.

Foto Wien is the successor of the photography festival Eyes On (since 2004) and will take place every other year in cooperation with the “European Month of Photography”.
