This exhibition features 200 works about Africa, Fashion, Studies of the Human Form as well as Portraits.

Herb Ritts is very mach an image-maker for our time, a photographer whose assured eye, fertile imagination and affirmative spirit translate our culture’s dreams and desires into strong, palpable pictures.

Ritts is drawn to clean lines and strong forms: this graphic simplicity allows his images to be read and felt instantaneously.

His career began in the late 1970s, with informal portraits of friends in the movie industry. His pictures of models, athletes, of Maasai women, celebrate the body as strong, sensuous and beautiful. His portraits of famous figures, from Madonna to Dizzy Gillespie, Jack Nicholson to David Hockney often have a whimsical quality, creating the sense of an intimate encounter with a larger-than-life-size personality. Social history and fantasy are both captured and created by Ritts´ memorable pictures.
