Workshop “Reward”

Tattoos can have very different cultural functions and meanings. According to history, they function as a ritual or sacred symbol – for example in the context of a heroic act or the longing for divinity. In modern times tattoos often serve as a means of self-expression and individualization. However, both in the past and present, it takes a great deal of courage to inscribe something permanently into your body.

For three days POF collective will be opening a tattoo studio at the project’s location. If you feel like lacking courage in certain moments in your life you are welcome to pass by and get a tattoo - which will function like a silent medal to remind you of your personal motivation, ambitions and goals in life. Based on a thorough consultation with our tattoo artists, a tattoo will be chosen for you that will help you to be more courageous in the future. After getting the tattoo pictures of the symbols will be taken and integrated in the growing exhibition. As Mary Anne Radmacher wrote: “Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, “I will try again tomorrow.”
