Art and ecology
We are the place in Vienna that negotiates sustainability and environmental protection within the art discourse. With exhibitions on topics such as climate change, recycling and urbanism. The starting point is Friedensreich Hundertwasser's commitment to the environment and society. We continue this in our contemporary and interdisciplinary programme. As the first green museum that lives up to its name.
The KunstHausWien as an exhibition centre.
We dedicate ourselves to the special relationship between man and the nature he has shaped: in the largest permanent presentation of Friedensreich Hundertwasser's work. And in solo exhibitions and themed group exhibitions by local, international, emerging and established artists. Together, we try to find answers to current questions about the climate crisis, biodiversity and the future.
The KunstHausWien as a centre for art and ecology.
One of Friedensreich Hundertwasser's visions was to understand the need for citizens to get involved in ecological issues. The idea of architecture for people and nature and actionism as a means of expressing art. Our endeavours to assume socio-political responsibility and to work on alternative models for tomorrow are rooted in all of this.
KunstHausWien as a meeting place.
We not only seek exchange within the art discourse, but also want to come into contact with a wide variety of disciplines and people. For this reason, we combine our exhibitions with educational formats in which visitors of different age groups can participate and with special outreach programmes. In this way, we aim to reach target groups far removed from the art and culture scene.
KunstHausWien as a platform.
The museum strives to be a driving force in debates and discourses on issues relating to a sustainable, inclusive and future-proof society. The diversity of visitors, employees and topics is just one aspect of this. Another is interdisciplinary learning. This makes KunstHausWien a think tank for ecological action, sustainable cultural work and an innovative understanding of art in Vienna and beyond.
